Attempting to learn something new every day. Trying hard to make one new friend. Helping at least one person or allowing one person to help you and feel needed. Everything we do today reflects on what our tomorrows memories will hold in store. Do things that go against the hate of the world we are becoming. I smile at people who are not smiling. I still help old people cross the street and let a young lad help me when he felt I needed help to cross the street. If we want a brighter future we must shine on the resent.

The "good old days" almost always were the bad old days. We like to pick and choose what was good and ignore what wasn't, but you need to take it all in context to understand history otherwise its nothing more than wishful thinking. Many people like to think the late 50's, early 60s was a great time and for some it was, but during the same period 80 million Chinese were killed by the communists. During the "good old days" most of the planet had no indoor plumbing nor electricity. During the 'good old days" antibiotics hadn't been developed and millions died from infections. Back in the "good old days" black school children were thrown from bridges into the frozen Detroit river. In the "good old days" people went to hospitals to die. Nobody went there for a health checkup. During the "good old days" your mode of transportation was a horse who could turn on you at any given moment and trample you to death and it took months and months to cross a continent. Most people couldn't afford horses. In the "good old days" very few people owned homes. About 5% of the population actually owned their own home. Should I continue?

Live like you mean it, and it will balance out. Never use the past as a litmus test for happiness. Happiness is fleeting. Enjoy each bit of it you come across. Don't let circumstance push you around, and above all, laugh. Laughter IS good medicine. Bitterness DOES dry up the bones.

That is true. When I was living them, I certainly wasn't thinking about what happened the year before. We value our todays by just making our mind up to do it and deciding to enjoy each day to the fullest in the hear and now.
