I'm surprised they would even accept the nomination. They weren't a main stream metal band in the 1980's. I'd rather see a few other metal bands inducted before them. Do they deserve it, I would say yes.

Yes I am a fan so I'd agree anyway but they have been one of the most successful metal acts of all time so probably deserved regardless.

It was good to see the Rock n Roll Hall of Shame finally get something right and put a metal band in. Hard rock and metal are a part of rock n roll. Metallica definitely belong. They have influenced just about every thrash band and remain popular. While I prefer their old school stuff, there is no question they still are a huge influence. The problem with the Hall is there are a ton of other hard rock bands that should have been in years ago such as:Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, KISS, Motorhead, Deep Purple, and from the punk scene Iggy Pop.
