  • It makes internet life happy.
  • I don't know, and it irritates me a lot. I don't expect it to be literally true i.e. I don't mind it being used when you just grinned broadly rather than Laughed Out Loud. But people see to use it to mean "Don't take this seriously" or "I'm just being frivolous". If that is what they mean, I wish they would say it.
  • it is the 'facial expression' of cyberspace. People can't read our face to see what and how we are expressing our thoughts - so this is the next best thing!!
  • Well, I think it's past it's sell by date now. We should invent something else. What do you think these stand for? MML GAB KML TSF YAH ILT
  • Well I see people use it to signify that they are joking, they add it in on the end of what they say so its a less serious statement. But i find myself using it alot just to almost be polite, even if they werent funny I would still use it.
  • Because it's easier than typing "that's funny".
  • I sometimes am very sarcastic or opinionated, so people take my answers the wrong way. I don't mean any harm... most of the time I am just trying to be helpful! I add 'LOL' or a smiley face to avoid full front confrontation =)
  • I don't know a shortcut to "chuckle" or "giggle".
  • it is much better than the long form" "laughing out loud" do you know that this chat acronym LOL, i use 100% everyday while online? i rarely use ROTFL or TTFN or IDK now-a-days lol
  • Some guy in youtube, videotaped himself a conpiracy video of using excessively LOL. He said instead to use: TOL, thinking of laughing out lod. Its a great idea, im not sure, you crack up and start to laugh out loud for anything. LOL
  • im not sure but ive come up with one much better that should put it to a stop GOTI (giggling on the inside) because very few times are you actually laughing out loud when you use it
  • I would prefer that you did not use abbreviations .I don't know what they mean and really it is only a few more punches on the keys. I can not even answer comments and give comments to questions because with all these new abbreviations make no sense. I have to ask a question of what these mean. I hope this answer does not appear negative and I get -10. I respectfully find abbreviations frustrating.
  • How about "GFETE"...grinning from ear to ear, ok, no.
  • I think it's just habitual. I never use it. My friends and acquaintances use it quite often, even for conversations that aren't all that funny. Sometimes I wonder if the people using it are even paying attention to the effect the "LOL" may have on the recipient of their communique'. I find it mildly irritating.-
  • You may be one of those people who are genetically stupid.
  • I think its just an expressive term you can use online
