  • According to Judaism, yes. According to Christianity, yes and no. God said He would never abandon the Jewish nation, because they were the vessel through which He sent His Son to earth. But, now He has created a new Israel, based on the 12 apostles instead of the 12 tribes,(which no longer all exist), and the new Israel is made up of believers in Christ from all tribes and nations. Within the new Israel, there is a core of Jewish Christians, who will always be close to His heart.
  • No! we are ALL equal ... God chose me to be me he chose no one to be better than me but only to be my equal ... race, color or creed ... we are all equal 'equality'
  • The concept of a chosen people is highly misunderstood. We all have a part to play. The statement that the Jewish people are chosen means that the Jewish people believe that they must live by the 613 mitzvot as an example to all nations. # http://www.aish.com/literacy/concepts/The_Chosen_People.asp # http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Judaism/chosen_people.html # http://www.chabad.org/library/article.asp?AID=108391 # http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jews_as_a_chosen_people # http://www.askmoses.com/article.html?h=552&o=70149 # http://www.chabad.org/library/article.asp?AID=160993 What do you mean by a "natural Jew", anyone who converts to Judaism is a true Jew.
  • I believe so because the New Testament teaches us that God has not cast away His people. Israel is still His nation and Jesus Christ is still their Messiah. Thank you and God bless you!
  • If God exist then we are all his people. Its up to us to shape the world since God doesnt really concern himself with humankind.
  • No.We live and die like everyone else.
  • According to my understanding of things they were chosen to accomplish a specific task in a much bigger plan spanning many years. They have accomplished that task and the privileges that accompanied that special status no longer apply. So although they were chosen then, there is however, no further 'special' task that they have been chosen to perform so the chosen status refers to a past specific. But the 'special' status is another matter entirely. Are they special. I believe they are. But then I think I am special too. I think everyone is. But I am glad that they pulled off their part of the deal.
  • Yes, of course they are. So is everyone else, though.
  • According to the New Testament, they are, but not in the same sense as the Old Testament. In the O.T., it defines the Jewish people as the chosen people, that is chosen to have a covenant with God, and the people that God revealed himself to. After Jesus died and rose again, anyone in the world was open to have a relationship with God and reach salvation. The Jews in this sense did not just qualify for heaven just because of a gene saying they were Jewish. Everyone, yes everyone, according to the Bible, needs to rely on Jesus' death and resurrection in order to be saved. However, it also prophesies in the Bible that the Jews turn away from God, that their hearts will be hardened to the Good News, but that there will come a time before the end of the world when there will be a revival among the Jewish people, as God has NOT abandoned his people. They do not have a special status, but their Jewish heritage gives them an advantage in the fact that they have their knowledge of the Torah and having God's revelation through history. But they still need salvation, and it says in the Bible that God's wrath on them will be even greater on them than Gentiles who didn't believe, because they were given prophecies, assurances, signs, that Jesus Christ of Nazareth was their Messiah, yet they ignored God. They were blessed and knew the truth, but ignored Jesus and even crucified him on the cross. They are God's chosen people, but not in the same sense as in the Old Testament.
  • No. The natural Jews today are blinded by God temporarily for a purpose, like Pharaoh was in the time of Moses. (Romans 9, 10 and 11) Only a small proportion of natural Jews accept the gospel in this age. The rest cannot believe it. (John 12)(Isaiah 6) In future the Jews are resurrected to physical life again and then those who never accepted Jesus before all accept Jesus as their saviour. (Exekiel 37)This is at least a thousand years after christians are resurrected to immortality at the return of Jesus to earth, including the relatively small number of natural Jews who accepted Jesus in this age . (Revelation 20)(1 Corinthians 15) Best wishes, Eddie Cairns.
  • God's chosen people or self-appointed god's chosen people?
  • The Jewish nation being a kingdom of Priest was conditional. (Ex19:5,6) Since most jews left true worship, Jesus gave this warning: “The kingdom of God will be taken from you and be given to a nation producing its fruits.” (Matthew 21:43) Failing to heed that warning, the majority continued in their apostate course and rejected Jesus as God's anointed one. Hence, it was not long afterward that God allowed the rebuilt temple to be destroyed, in the year 70. (Matthew 23:37, 38) This did not mean that God was rejecting all Jews. As Paul, a Jewish apostle of Christ, explained: “God did not reject his people, whom he first recognized. . . . At the present season also a remnant has turned up according to a choosing due to undeserved kindness.” (Romans 11:2, 5) Just as many might be invited to a wedding ceremony but only a few might attend, God had invited the entire Jewish nation into a special relationship with him, but only a remnant of these maintained that special closeness by their faithfulness. God did not spare the natural branches, but if they show faith, they can be grafted in again. (Romans 11:21) You might see John 1:11; Gal 13:28; and Rev 5:9,10 also. http://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John1:11;Gal3:28;Rev5:9-10;&version=16;77;9;72;15; This faithful Jewish remnant was soon joined by non-Jews who also desired to serve God. Even though their ancestors had not been in a special relationship with him, Jehovah was now willing to accept these faithful non-Jews as his people. Noting this, Paul wrote: “If, now, God . . . called [us] not only from among Jews but also from among [non-Jewish] nations, what of it? It is as he says also in Hosea: ‘Those not my people I will call “my people.”’”—Romans 9:22-25. Thus, both Jews and non-Jews could be God’s chosen people, with the prospect of serving as priests in behalf of the rest of mankind. Speaking to faithful worshipers of various national backgrounds, the Christian apostle Peter, a Jew from birth, wrote: “You are ‘a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for special possession’ . . . For you were once not a people, but are now God’s people.” (1 Peter 2:9, 10) This was the “nation,” people with godly qualities, that Jesus said would produce the ‘fruits of God’s kingdom’ and that would therefore enjoy a special relationship with God.—Matthew 21:43. God was looking for faith and righteous conduct in his selection of these prospective priests, not some special ancestry. As Peter had noted: “God is not partial, but in every nation the man that fears him and works righteousness is acceptable to him.”—Acts 10:34, 35.
  • The Jews are self-appointed "God's chosen people" - There is no god and they did that to control the rest of the people and keep them under submission
  • NO,the PURPOSE for the Israelites is accomplished =the world knows of God through them..they kept HIS NAME holy and alive til the real PURPOSES were fulfilled..Abraham & Jacob & Judah/Jews= PURPOSE =to bring in Messiah for ALL. HE left the Israelites and the temple way before the Tribe of Judah's Purpose was ACCOMPLISED..as I beleive there were 400yrs between Malachi/Prophet and John the Baptist/Prophet...the Old and New Promises.... natural Jews are of the 4th,last,strongest TRIBE,Judah.as Joseph ,Mary ,& Jesus were:Jews..the most important to ALL MEN...there is no Purpose for any CHOSEN ,it was ACCOMPLISHED..:)justme
  • All Jews for all time are G-d's chosen people. And "chosen" doesn't mean we are privileged in any way. We actually have more obligations to The Almighty than everyone else. Anyone is welcome to convert to Judaism, though there have never been many takers. Jews aren't a biologically distinct race either, contrary to popular belief. The earliest Jews were racially Semitic, but then so were the earliest Christians and Muslims. All three religions have made their way around the world, however, and there are people of all races who are Jewish, Christian or Muslim. We don't consider Christians to be racially Christian or Muslims to be racially Muslim, so there's no basis for Jews to be considered racially Jewish. The commitment to G-d's word (Torah) is eternal for all Jews for all time. For as long as there are Jews on this Earth, there will be an obligation to follow the Torah. G-d keeps his promise, so we have to keep ours.
  • Well since technically Jesus didn't fulfill all of the prophecies, then they still are. http://www.evilbible.com/jesus_false.htm
