  • Ok, second attempt to post a response. I am old enough to remember that one. You could only see the ground at your feet, and you only knew other people were nearby when you heard them coughing. I thought the numbers of deaths directly attributable to the smog were 6,000, but I see from another reply that the number was greater. I don't think it was the last of the smogs, though. I remember bad smogs in 1953, and possibly even later.
