No. Because I choose to work for such douche bags. If it bugged me, I'd do something about the root problem. Oh wait, that's why I started my own business. Yay me!
-
Oh man, would I be pissed. But the thing is, if you're talking about using a card, all this is done through electronics. The computer can't "reason" with the excuse, however you could certainly ask the staff to manually rectify this. If they didn't want to, then, having 15 minutes taken away, I would just use that 15 minutes to go have a smoke ha ha.

Absolutely!

No. the exact same thing happened to me once until I went to the timekeeper and told her what had happened. They called me at 430am to be there at 500. I got there 5:03 and she docked me what turned out to be time and a half cus it was overtime. She fixed it though.
-
Quite. You are doing THEM a favor. They should pay you.
-
Normally you would have to be late over 3 min to be docked 1 tenth.in this case the person was late only 1 min and should not be docked,in this case since the reacted at such a short notice the supervisor could use more discretion given the circumstances as appreciation.

hell no and i would be pissedoff i mean you actually doing them a favor so they can continue buisness its not like it is your normal work time. i would say to the boss for every minute early i want +30 minutes pay i mean come on this is at last minute that boss manager asshole prick whatever i would try to find more friendly more paying better work place. FYI if this butthead is under someone else if there is higher boss file complaint

I would be pissed - but, in most circumstances and businesses in this day and age, clocking in is done electronically, whether by a time card, computer system, or some other means. In that case, it can be difficult to change (which is the entire reason companies prefer electronic time clocking anyway). Anything left to electronics will always have its pros, but also its cons as well.

Tell the cheapskate that will promise to work 60 seconds overtime. Otherwise do not start working until 15 minutes after the hour, when your shift starts. Just sit there and do nothing you are not on the clock.
-
It would be the last time I ever answered my phone after work.
-
Not if that's the rule: however you can appeal the pay docking, keep going up the management tree until up get to the top or get what you want. AND write your grievance down on paper, letter form, If someone threatens in fire you for making a stink, you'll have the upper hand. In the medical system an RN has an Hour to make it in after the call. You could argue that this should be the case in your case also.
