Many (if not most) radio stations have their transmitters located away from the studio. How do they get the audio from the studio to the transmitter for broadcast?

Over standard telephony links, which may be landlines or microwave links. The same kind of lines telephone conversations and the internet run over. Nowadays it is entirely digital; in the past they had analog landlines. They usually have multiple lines over different routes for reliability.
