Help answer this question below.
depends on the exact brand of lappy and what drivers you have installed,
click start, then control panel
look in top right corner of the control panel window, if it says "click for classic view" then click on it (else ignore this bit)
Then double click on "mouse".... have a hunt round in the settings and see if a "disable pointer" or similar is there.
if not may be possible in the bios.... but.... leave that for now :)
you should be able to go to your control panel then click on "mouse" (or pointing devices) and disable it from there.
You should practice safe typing and use a condom.. Grin..
Go to dell.com and in the search box type driver downloads and then enter your service tag number. the driver you need to do this is under input device drivers. download it and run it. the file should be R165804.exe. Once installed and rebooted you will see in the task bar a grey square and then right click on that then go to touchpad properties and you will have all the options you need. The process is similar if you have an IBM with a track stick.
I don't have that button, maybe just get another keyboard!
smash it up
Thanks for the input, but I have tried that (except for the safe typing) and there is no such option.

That's what I thought, but there is no place to access anything but the touchpad and mouse buttons. Thanks anyway!

when you first turn the computer on it will probably say something like press f2 to enter setup, press the button it says and you should be taken into the bios for the computer, you can have a look in there and see if there is anything that relates to turning off the pointer.
or as a last resort, if you really want to disable it then lifting the keyboard off and physically unplugging the thing will stop it working for sure :)
