Do most people with fireplace chimneys, really realize the dangers of a creosote fire?

I definatly didn't until my grandparents told me I needed to stop burning things other than wood. Scary.

i'm not like most. i clean it every 2 weeks. a surprizing amount will build up quick. there is a ladder bolted to the roof, just for this.

What causes a creosote fire? We only burn seasoned hardwood (oak) from our property after the storms went through and toppled our trees. There is also a log (in a bag) that you can get that helps clean your chimney too when you light it. I don't remember the name, but my husband burns one of those weekly when we are using the fireplace.

I don't think so because everyone want heat and in low cost.
