70 would be good
-
It's usually 55-65 here, but 75 would be nice (when reasonable).
-
I like 65 miles per hour.
-
Get rid of the speed limit, but line the roadside with landmines. It will work itself out.
-
Call me old fashioned but I'd like to see it lowered to 55.
-
80-mph would be reasonable, cars today are so much safer and more powerful
-
65 miles would be just fine. I think.
-
It depends on the highway alot. Some roads are wide and divided and 75-80 would be as safe as 55-65 would be on narrower, double lane older highways where driving any faster is dangerous and risky.
-
Fast as possible you slow-mos
-
I think Montana has the right idea; 65 at night, safe and prudent during the day. Not many people know this, but in the places overseas where this is allowed have LESS accidents than we do with our low speed limits. The safety argument is null and void, disproven by provable statistics.
-
Fast as you want, don't believe speed kills, hit something at 100km or 180km, won't make alot of difference
-
ours is 100ks in this country, but our roads are unsafe really, thin, and often winding, not nice big highways.
-
Most of the highways around me are 65-70mph I think they should be 75mph because I always have people tailgating me when I'm going 75-80mph!
-
about 60... when you can stop your car w/in 2 sec. to avoid such accidents...
-
I think 55 to 65 is fast enough for me anyway. People are going to go faster no matter what the speed limit is.
-
I think that no speed limit would be a good idea, but if we were to do that, then we should be have thorough inspections on all cars, and drivers would have to take extensive training to be able to drive defensively.
-
Create a national autobon where the speedlimit is limitless. Create an autobon license based on age and safe driving records. That pretty much rules out all teenagers.
-
I think 65 is good. I also like that on the Atchafalya Freeway Trucks must stay in the right lane and must go 50 while everyone else goes 60. It has cut down on accidents dramatically and it's easier to cross. I'd like to see this on all highways.
-
exactly what you see on the highways. D.O.T.is doing all they can to save lives.
-
That depends on the highway; US Interstates have segments where 100+ miles per hour is perfectly safe during the day.
-
Arizona has many areas where the speed limit is 75 mph, and I traveled them frequently. I have yet to drive on a highway here in Oregon where I would feel comfortable at this speed.
-
I think each person should be rated and vehicles be programmed to only go the speed the driver has shown to be able to handle.
-
You should have variable speed limits as several other countries already do. The top limit should be 85 mph (as I believe it is in Switzerland), but in bad weather or when traffic is bad, this would come down in real time.
-
what ever your car can go
-
i think it should be a speed minnimum like the autobahn(excuse errors in spelling)
-
it really depends on the highway and the weather conditions there. some places that are warm all year could probably handle faster speed limits, if the roads were built for it. you can't have the lanes too skinny or the road too curvy... the speed limit on some of the highways here is lower than in other states, and i'm actually glad! there would be more wrecks if not. the roads are curvy, with small lanes, and we often have rain or fog.
-
On good quality, multi-lane highways? Open, but with strictly enforced rules regarding lane use and overtaking.
-
75 or 80 would be nice if there were four lanes. 65 for three lines. No limit in some areas like we used to have.
-
everything's 70 around here, but o'er yonder toward detroit, everytime, everyone ends up doing 85-90. if everyone's traveling at that pace, traffic actually moves a lot smoother than if people are trying to stick around the speed limit. i'm not saying that 85-90 would be appropriate, but i agree with montana's "safe and prudent" rule in some areas.
-
It should be set high enough to discourage old people from going on them - (that'll be anything over 32mph then).
