  • Personally, when a game system begins doing that, it is one of the game systems that quote "failed" I had an xbox that did that. I hope you have warranty... I don't think it is fixable.
  • actually that's not totally true. it can be fixed pretty easily i heard. i have the exact same problem and i googled 'ps2 makes a ticking noise and freezes'. what you'll find is that it is actually a very common problem with the game system that either has to do with the laser lens or the arm thing that manages the cd. supposedly it's easy enough to fix and a few more experienced people have actually detailed ways to do so on their site. im gonna call my uncle and ask him to take it apart for me. he's good with mechanical fixes. :)
  • Okay, look at the disc. Even if it's not that scratched, PS2s suck at reading discs if they are even slightly scratched. Especially the new slim ones. There's nothing wrong with the system, the slims suck. Get an older, bigger one, they have WAY better disc readers.
