  • First of all cats hate change. If your home is pretty quiet with not many people, then they get upset when that scenario changes. They feel insecure because there is more noise, more scents and they don't understand what is happening. To them it is chaos. They don't get "we're having company". Cats are nervous by nature and nothing will ever change that. The only way you can alter it a little is to have company all the time so they get used to it but that isn't a very practical answer. Some cats are more nervous than others so if you know your cats are going to freak out when you have company it is probably a good idea to help them avoid it by closing them up in a room while the company is there. Leave their litter box in the room and close the door until company leaves. I hope this helps a little.
