What is your opinion of the use of the Native American likeness in sports, as mascots?

I'm only 1/8 native myself (Cree), but I like it. Native people don't get a lot of acknowledgement. They call them the Red Skins, not the Stupid Red Skins, so I don't find it demeaning.

I don't have any native American blood in me, and am way too white to even attempt to lie about it. I agree with BATB that Native Americans don't get a lot of acknowledgement, but I don't think that this is the type of acknowledgement that they deserve. They deserve much more than being the mascot of some freaking sport. I guess that by the logic used to defend this practice; it would be perfectly acceptable to use the following: The Washington Pale Skins The Cleveland Caucasians The Atlanta Aryans
