Would you ever rate an answer down, just to make your answer the top answer? Have you ever been suspect of this happening to you?

I don't rate down good answers. I am sure it has happened to me before though. EDIT "I don't rate down good answers.": I have one exception. Someone wrote a fantastic answer to one of my [opinion] questions which I rated up, but then he rated down someone elses opinion. In my opinion there is no reason why I should give someone points when they have trolled someone elses answer, so I decided to undo my + rating. It's a shame because it was the best answer I got. If he decides to stop trolling people on my answers I will rate him up again.

wow i haven't even thought of this. Thanks. from here on out my posts will be top on all questions. lol. No, I would't do that. Sometimes my answers just really arn't as good. if someone has top answer its probably for good reason.

There should be no competition of points in my opinion. It is just stupid and brainless. People could really need the answer to the questions, and downrating good answers to their questions may put them off this site. I have never purposefully downrated answers, and never will

I am not so little as to do something like that. I believe there is karma and what goes around comes around. But I suspect there are a few little minded people out there with big egos that need to be appeased so they go on here and down rate people to make themselves feel powerful. In the beginning I cared about it but now as time has gone on, in the words of Rhett Butler: " I don't give a damn". They are little people and it this is how they get their jollys, so be it. It comes back.

Answers that pertain to the question, shouldn't be rated down even if you disagree with it...If I wouldn't rate a question down that I didn't agree with it, then I certainly wouldn't rate down one just to be the top answer

No, and I would imagine most baggers wouldn't However, just once or twice, and quire recently, I have suspected this.
