I'm casting my vote for the great and greatly underrepresented Leo Kottke.

Although some other guitarist may have achieved much greater fame and greatness than him, his music is truly masterful, and will always hold a special place in my heart.

    Whoo! You go Leo!

Last time I checked, Andres Segovia was still the greatest guitar player of all time. Some good rock players were mentioned by others, but if you asked anyone of these good rock players who is best, they would say Segovia!

I think the enjoyment from watching someone should be a huge factor so I am going to say Angus Young. I do not know enough about the "technical" aspects of playing the guitar but if I chose the one I like to see perform the most it is Angus. Energy defined, and I just love the sound that eminates from his guitar.

Some say the greatest guitar player is a guy named Phil Keaggy. You probably have never heard of him but he is amazing. Check him out at YouTube. He has spent almost his entire career in the Christian market and has never cared about being famous.

Stories have it that Jimi Hendrix was once asked by a talk show host how it felt to be the world's greatest guitar player. Supposedly, his answer was, "I don't know, go ask Phil Keaggy."
