Is there a name for the dot under the question and the exclamation mark? If so, what is it?

I'm pretty sure it is just a standard full stop, or period. I don't think it's association with the question or exclamation mark changes it's name at all.

it is a period, the same as the dot of a question mark. It symbolizes the end of a sentance, and the above refference symbolizes the context in which the sentance is to be percieved, but the period remains constant, as does the end of the sentance.

I cannot find a name for it anywhere, but it might interest you to know that the exclamation point was originally a word with a l and a o under it. The o became a dot. http://everything2.com/index.pl?node=exclamation
