I don't know how your cats could suddenly cause you stress. My four cats are a great source of comfort and companionship. Two even sleep next to me in my bed. At least you don't have to risk getting sick from cleaning the litterbox. I am trying to look on the bright side. I don't know why you should feel guilty. People have situations that make them give up pets all the time, just a reality of life.

Did you make sure they had a good home? If so, there is nothing to feel guilty about. If you can no longer take care of them, finding them a new home is the right thing to do. Congrats on the pregnancy, and I hope your stress level has gotten better.

Whenever you start to feel guilty about it just think of this baby you have on the way and think about the good is gonna do to him to not have cat hair to breathe which can cause him asthma. dont think that you got rid of the cat because of stress, just say to your self "this was for my baby, he is more important" you should feel better after. Good luck!! hope you feel better

Hopefully the cats went to a good home. However, you're entitled to put yourself and your pregnancy first. I'm an animal lover - absolutely but as my husband and I begin heading towards the stage in our relationship where having children is a distinct possibility, I wouldn't hesitate to find a new home for my pets if I was pregnant and the pets were causing me stress. You need to eliminate all possible signs of stress during this time so don't feel guilty.

I'm not trying to be an ass, but if this stressed you out to the point you had to get rid of them, I'd say you better be working on learning how to DE-STRESS in some healthy manner...because as a Mom, I hate to say it but babies and KIDS can cause a bit of stress no matter how angelic they are most of the time....good luck...if you placed your cats with good people in a good home...let it go and learn to CALM DOWN! Have fun more worry less.

If you "got rid" of the cats with responsibility, taking them to a shelter or giving them to a caring person, you should accept that you did the right thing for you and your family. If you just threw them away down the road, well that's going to be harder to forget and forgive.

How is the pregnancy going? Are things calmer without the fighting cats?

You have to do what is best for you and your baby. Like everyone else, I hope you found them a good home. I wish you well and enjoy the baby when it arrives.

First off, I dont want to be an ass either, but they were fighting?? How long had you had them?? And just some information to the person talking about cats getting pregnant females sick, well this is the deal on that. Toxoplasmosis is what it is called, and it can only be passed on to the pregnant women by them handling feline fecies older than 48 hrs. You want to calm your guilt, than i suggest making a donation to your local humane society or trying to get at least one of your cats back, you can still make a happy family work. I have 5 cats and my wife will be 12 weeks pregnant tomorrow. They chase each other around, and knock over drinks, and one of them(Cypher) tries to get out sometimes(all my cats are indoor cats. All i am trying to say is we make it work. I clean the litterbox and any and all puke anytime that happens just to be safe. Well i hope this has been of some help and good luck with your pregnancy!
