  • Take ibuprofen and drink a coke.
  • Are you familiar with accupressure. Some of it works well Place your thumbs underneath the base of the skull on either side of the spine. Tilt your head back slightly and press up for a couple of minutes. Make sure you only tilt the head a little. It doesn't feel good of you go too far.
  • I had those for years, thank goodness not that often...they are terrible. I can usually tell now when one is coming on. I go into a darkened room, put an ice pack on the back of my neck and think of relaxing things.
  • it wont stop it, but arching your back backwards helps me alot. I really hope all of the imformation is helpful because i get those everyother day.
  • Sorry, it's not answering your question exactly, but I wanted to offer this: I watched a tv show on a study that claimed great success alleviating migraines by going to bed and waking up at regular times. They said that all of the participants who did so for some months saw a drastic decrease in the frequency of their migraines.
  • Vomit...I know it sucks, but it's always worked for me.
  • I take rhovane right away, which is a presribed sleeping pill. I very rarely wake up with any head pain, so I'd say that nips it in the bud for me.
  • drink a lorra lorra lorra lorra water you may find yourself peeing within an hour or so - is ok - but drink again - repeat until neat (about 6 hours) - you may have weird day / night but think this puts body back in balance so probably better than suppressants check foods you are eating - some may have diuretic properties causing dehydration or anti-diuretic properties causing retention of fluids - either could reduce removal and waste products from the blood and build up of waste in the blood and tissue can cause imbalance and problems some people find that some food combinations - like some alcohols don't mix some people find they are intolerant of some foods - milk or dairy - don't worry you can find calcium in other sources soya orange squash could give itchy skin - some fruits eaten in summer can have same effect onions could give abdominal pain wheat products - dry skin heavy periods snoring dandruff could all be symptoms of wheat intolerance - if you are intolerant of a food you may be addicted - just like alcohol using other flours to make foods - maize, yam flour, rice flour even oatmeal makes a great cake if you get the liquid balance right (trial and error) will help get someone off wheat addiction other headache producing products for some - too much chocolate caffeine food additives/colourants - including red cheese!!! some people find that by removing foods that do not suit from the diet dramatically reduces weight / painful and prolonged periods / snoring / headaches / small illnesses - fewer coughs and colds also check food hygiene habits - some people may be surprised how keeping dirty hands from mouths etc will improve health
  • ^Maybe not immediate but if you take 2 aspirin and drink a cup of coffee, not decaf, the combination of the antiinflammatory properties of the aspirin and the caffeine in the coffee, helps stop the swelling of the blood vessels. No one knows exactly why migraines happen, but it's thought that a series of events begins with the excitement of nerve cells in the brain. These over excitable nerve cells then send out impulses to the blood vessels in the brain. The nerve releases substances that cause inflammation and swelling of the blood vessels resulting in pain and throbbing.
  • I get one every once in a while and when i do if i leave it alone it takes me OUT! last time i took 2 advil and went to sleep i had a minor headache after but that beats a full on migraine.
  • My first line of defense is usually two ibuprofen and a Benadryl. The Benedryl constricts the blood vessels for me -- caffeine only increases my nausea. But once the numbness/tingling in my hands begins I'm doomed for the full cycle. Hope you recover soon!
  • Put your feet in hot water. as hot as you can stand but don't get burned :)
  • The only thing that works for me is about 800mg of naproxen, an ice bag and a dark room. IF I can get to sleep when I feel it coming on, I usually can sleep it off before it gets bad. For some reason the only thing that has ever worked for me is going to sleep.
  • A massage always help to relax me more. Most of the time, I will use a massage oil with scents of peppermint, lavender, and sandlewood. Eucalpytus also provides an odor which can help headaches. When getting aromatherapy supplies, you’re going to want to buy essential oils in order to insure the quality of your products.
