When did you take advice that turned out not to be good advice?

I once made the mistake of taking advice about women, from a woman. She told me to be myself, tell her how I felt, express my feelings, etc. I did all that, only to see the girl I liked kissing her ex a few days later. I was actually more upset at my female friend than the girl I liked. I literally wouldn't speak to her for almost a week I was so pissed at her. I finally forgave her, but I told her to never advise me about women again. I was younger at the time, so I figured who better to ask about women than a woman? But all I found out was that even though guys don't know shit about women, neither do women!

My own advice.

A former friend told me about a job at the company she still works for. I was hired on the spot. About 7 months later, we lost our contract to another company. We had to reapply for our positions in order to stay. The Major of the jail (and friend to former "friend) had his pick of who he wanted to stay. I was one of them, or so I was told by my former "friend" per the, Major. She told me not to worry because the Major is going to make sure that I would keep my job. Well, that didn't happen. My former friend has my old job, and, she's MISERABLE!!!
