  • Conforming is trying to be the same or similar, but "anti-conformity" suggests a range of actions. For instance, we're all given a piece of paper and told to write our name on it. We can conform and do just that, or we can doodle, play hangman, wad the paper up and shoot at the wastebasket, or even tear the paper to shreds ~ all acts of non-conformity.
  • I agree with that statement to a point. There are people who follow anit-conformism, and in group form the ideology is conforming, but on an idividual level, non-conformity is possible.
  • Anti-conformity suggests being against conformity. That doesn't necessarily say you are a nonconformist. True nonconformists go at it their own way, to the beat of a different drummer. Conforming to the "goth" lifestyle, for example, is still conformity. Counter-culture should not be confused with being nonconformist. If you follow the excepted method to not conforming, you have just conformed to something else. If you go about it your own way, and blaze your own trail, then you are a true nonconformist.
  • If you listen closely you can hear the faint yet distinct baying of the sheeple.
