  • Good question! When someone inspiring enough comes along he/she will bring that divide to an end; I believe.
  • Yes, we're doomed to keep repeating history over and over. Personally I am truly inspired by our president, but the "right" or republiCONartists as I call them will fight any and all initiatives he comes up with for no other reason than to get their own power back regardless if what he does benefits them. It's the same old self destructive behavior typical of teenagers.
  • Down in New Zealand we call that the "Tall poppy syndrome!" because evry one wants to really see them fail and they don't like anything that's new or has good ideas!
  • I do not accept that the divide is so pronounced. I believe that the polar extremes are active and vocal, and as we are venturing into untried (and historical) territory it is in the nature of humanity to become agitated, aggressive and frightened. Add to this there are those who would use and abuse the emotional distress of the country to further their own careers and purposes. Lastly, as we live in a world of instant information, people are perpetually bombarded with constant streams of information, (some valid, some less so)much of it presented to titillate and entice rather than to educate or inform. We have gone from a people or great though to a creatures of stimulus/response. Having said this, I do not believe we are on the edge or are facing a permanent fissure. The country is strong and cooler heads will prevail. Despite everything, I believe that people are really good at heart.
  • I think what happens is when something has been defined for the sole purposes for which it stands upon, and the guard(its meaning)has been lowered slowly but surely, until the original meaning has been made into too many loop holes, that it cant be defined again. I too have wondered about this issue. Seems the shift is about change, which is necessary, but at what point does it stop. We all fight for what we believe in, but America has become so diverse that we are trying to make so many different people happy, and careful not to offend cultures, and grant the right to free speech, etc., until I wonder how there will ever be peace inside our own country, no matter who is running it or inspiring. I think it will take some great leaders to come together to help transform and reiterate what America stands for today!
