rent one most ppl blow thw first clutch that they drive costs anywhere from $500-$1.5K

Better learn first....My little brother did not learn first and he burnt up two clutches on his car before he finally got the hang of it.

rent one? that's dumb; you'll take the chance of messing up the gears of a car you don't own. There are driving schools that have standard tranny cars you can use. You just gotta shop around. If you're willing to pay for one or two lessons on manual transmission it would be well worth it. That's what I did when I bought my first car with manual transmission.
-
Is there a reason you would want a manual? It's a pain in the ass.

I learned by going to a used car lot and telling the salesman i was REALLY REALLY interested in a particular car but could not drive a stick. He taught me in hopes of getting the sale.

Just buy whatever car you want. Anyone can learn. Just make sure you know someone that can help you learn on your car. Take them with you when you buy it!
