The female I went to was a total judgmental bitch!! I only seen her once and I never went to her again. Now I see this old (I want to say hes Filipino(sp?)) I trust him and feel more comfortable with him then I ever would have with the female doctor.

My Dr is a man, he's been there for years now. He's was our Dr through my pregnancy and he was one of the many Dr's there when our son was delivered, and he has cared for our son for the past 2.5 years, and he is also my hubby's Dr. I don't think it matters if they are male or female, it's all about who you are comfortable with.

It really doenst matter to me. The gyno office I go to has a couple operating it and you never know which one is coming in. I like them both.

I've only ever had a female doctor, so I can't say I have a preference. It's not exactly a "comfortable" situation to be in, and I think I'd be equally uncomfortable with any doctor.

i prefer a male doctor do my paps. i have experienced both on several ocassions and i have to say that females are very rough. i dont know why, they should be more gentle i mean they have the same parts as me. male doctors are gentle and soft and they treat you with so much tenderness, i guess is because they dont want to hurt you or something... those are my past experiences and i like my male doctors.

As a potential future candidate, I must say I can understand why some women would choose females over males, just as many choose female obstetricians over males. I would be more comfortable myself going to see a male doctor for a testicular problem or similar. I've only ever seen a male doctor for a groin problem, never a female, though this wasn't by choice, just the appointments available. I suppose though that if you had seen a doctor fairly regularly and got to develop a good relationship with them, then perhaps you would be much more relaxed having them there. Though if you knew the doctor too well, this would then turn back (though out of a conflict of interest a doctor should not treat a patient he knew too well anyway). A friend of mine has told me that she would like me to be there when she has children, but as a friend not as a doctor, and she'd tear my head off if I was on the wrong side of the room!

I have to have colopscopy examinations every six months and the worst experience I had was when a man did my smear and biopsies. I fainted because he was so brutal. Every examination since has been with a nurse colposcopist who has been a lot more gentle. I suppose you get brutal men and women - it's just the luck of who works at your local hospital.

Always female Dr, would be too embarrassed to have a strange man fiddling around down there. Plus the position in stirrups with legs wide apart is not dignified and just feel more comfortable with another women seeing me like that and doing the exam. All my Drs have been very gentle so have been lucky in that regard anyway.
