From A Mech.: there are various 'sensors & actuators' in & on the engine. However, the main computer (ie, variously called the ECU, ECM, etc.) is in the passenger compartment, usually behind the right, front 'kick panel' (altho location may vary). RECOM.: obtain a HAYNES MANUAL for your vehicle, which will greatly assist the "home mechanic" in general maintenance & repair) P.S.: unless it became saturated, it is VERY rare for the ECU to fail. GOOD LUCK!!

Probably front passenger area on wall to right of dash (If your seated in the passenger seat it will be to the right of your feet under an interior panel).
