I agree, because if you talk about yourself, you only let people know what you want them to know. You are shielding yourself by pretending to expose yourself. Controlling the conversation, and the flow of information.

it can be if that is the intent. but with effort i believe one can be completely open honest to oneself and others when communicating. it is a choice. talking about oneself is an important method of self exploration, even if one is concealing something in the process. isnt that a good realization to have, that you feel the need to hide something? why are you doing it?

Yes. If you try to convince people of who and what you are by your words rather than your actions, you may be trying to conceal your true intentions.
