Hotel porter. It was the most boring mind numbing job I ever had. I used to go and sleep in a cupboard I had the keys to, just to while away the time. If anyone needed me, my pager would go off. So no chance of ever being caught. This is the only job I have ever slept on and it was TOTALLY justified IMHO.

Pulling samples from milk cans and putting them into a small bottle in a creamery. You had to stand up in one place for hours at a time as the cans went by on the conveyor. You wouldn't believe how much your feet can hurt when your stand and don't move them for hours. :(:(:(

Doing some part time work in the quality promotion unit in my university, it involved me inputting data into a computer database from surveys students had filled out. It was completely mind numbing.

when I was a teen I spent part of a summer working at a research facility, there were plants in a field that were sectioned off by string into one foot square sections. I had to count how many things were in each sqare... how many plants, how many potato beetles, how many spiders, how many leaves on the plant that had the potato beetles, blah, blah, blah. The real killer was being crouched over in the field in the blazing sun. It was not a fun experience.

Working an assembly line boxing up and palleting adult diapers.

I was a security guard at the locker room entrance of a senior PGA event. It was for college baseball fundraising. 12 hours a day for a week 6-6 just sitting there watching the shadows. Worst part is you didn't get any money, just helped pay for uniforms and traveling expenses through the season. We also worked CSC at Raider games. Those are the people you see in the yellow jackets during NFL games. The funny thing is it's really just an act. Most of them (at least me) never did shit. It wasn't hard work but soooo boring. Occassionally you'd get a job on the field which was kinda neat but some of the jobs were terrible.

CNC (computer numerically controlled) Machine operator. I made John Deere tractor flywheels. I was lucky to make 6 or 7 parts a night. My job consisted of clamping a casting in the machine. Punching in the code and then sitting there twiddling my thumbs or reading a book for 40 minutes until the part was done. I actually worked a total of about 60 or 70 minutes a night, the rest of the time was spent sitting making sure there wasn't a tool crash (which rarely happened) Absolutely mind numbing work. I finally quit and took a substantial pay cut just to find more stimulating work.
