  • You know, the same thing happened to two of my PS2s. One of them was the old version, the other was the later version (the thin one). As far as I can tell, if either of these is crushed (e.g. stepped on, sat on) or moved while it is on and there is a disk inside, then it will still turn on, but will be unable to read disks. The older, larger model is much more prone to this kind of problem. I have never gotten a PS2 to work again after this happened, but you never know. I'd attempt to have a professional fix it before buying a new one if I were you.

  • the same thing happened to me as well and all this time i have been blaming my daughter for sticking things inside it but when all along she just turned it on :( i will have some apologising to do
  • what it is is the laser eyes on them. they wear out, i suggest if its in your fat system, the old ps2 buy a new one, reaplacing the laser is exspensive and a high failure rate when replaced. if you have a slim you have a lot better of a chance and its alot cheaper.
