Why did my healthy 4 yr old female poo in the centre of my bed the other day? She has never done anything like this before. She is not ill. Clearly she is trying to tell me something but what?

She is telling you she needed to go out, or to clean out the litter box.

You need to let her out more often. She is telling you that is is hard to hold for such long periods.

Yes she is trying to tell you something. You just have to figure out what that something is. Cats are meticulously clean and will not soil unless there is a problem. The problem usually is physical but she can't tell you that and it could be something that is not visible. They will also find an alternative place to go to the bathroom if the litter pan isn't clean. It needs to be cleaned at least once a day and washed once a week. If there is something physical like a uterine infection it will hurt if she goes to the bathroom so she is associating the litter pan with pain and trying to avoid it. If the pan is clean and all else is the same (you haven't changed litter or moved the box) then you need to take her to the vet to be check out. Good luck I hope it proves not to be serious.
