You are correct, it is more likely to be an Internet Explorer problem than anything else. If you want to stick with IE, then go into the settings and make sure all the security settings are on default. Chances are some zone is on custom and it's blocking the scripts HP is using. Or you could scrap IE altogether and go to http://www.getfirefox.com and try it with a different browser.
