News article stated that minivans were more prone to overturning than other vehicles. Reported went on to say, to make this even worse, many of the drivers of these vehicles are women. Why does this make it worse?

Because, no offence intended, most female drivers don't take into account the physics of said minivan as it drives down the road, and with the high center of gravity a quick turn can easily get one side up in the air, and if you don't turn the right way, which does seem the wrong way at the time, you'll just make it worse and tip over the van just like that.

Because the writers and researchers are sexist. Bad drivers come in both genders, although each gender has traits that can affect driving patterns.
