I have to tutor a 9th grader in Algebra 2. I didn't do a good job explaining how to solve problems to her. What can I do so that she can understand better?

if you have trouble putting it into words, just work example problems with her - over and over and over. let her see how you do the problem, what the process is. then, let her work the example problems. eventually she will have the process memorized, and hopefully she will get a deeper understanding.
