Yep I have. Years ago when we lived in Massachusetts my then-mother-in-law owned a cottage on Birch Island in Maine's Casco Bay. No electricity. We had a fridge that used propane and a potbelly stove in which we burned wood for warmth. No indoor plumbing to speak of so we had to use an outhouse. We used kerosene lamps when it got dark but usually retired around 8p.m. Even in summertime when we got up in the morning it was very cold. First thing we did was to start a fire in the potbelly stove. But it was very beautiful there! :)

I have a kerosene heater and lantern to use in case of power outages. Like after Hurricane Floyd.

Used kerosene on sailboat. Safer than gasoline or propane in confined space. But it's smelly and sooty. At my brothers camp, we used kerosene heaters and Coleman(gasoline) lanterns.
