I take this to mean that hate in your life is like burning your house - it begins to affect every part of your life, it eats away at you like fire until you have nothing left. It just doesn't make sense to hold onto something like that.

I thought the statement is interesting. They say it takes more effort to hate than to love, but I know were all capable of hatred. Its true right, its not a perfect world...and we do let ourselves become negative at times.

Well most people think of rats as scum - not worthy so if you burn your house down - then you did that for a foolish reason - because a rat is not worth doing that for - that rat is worhtless.

I like the "like burning down your house to kill a rat" part, it's a good analogy, but not for hating someone. Hmmm I'm gonna use that....

I don't believe in hate...the word or the feeling it describes. It destroys the person who engages in it and oftentimes the target is never affected at all. It is a dangerous emotion and it connotes being out of control and anyone who is out of control is very scary to be around. :)
