I answered a similar question before. Here's what I said to him: --"You know, the same thing happened to two of my PS2s. One of them was the old version, the other was the later version (the thin one). As far as I can tell, if either of these is crushed (e.g. stepped on, sat on) or moved while it is on and there is a disk inside, then it will still turn on, but will be unable to read disks. The older, larger model is much more prone to this kind of problem. I have never gotten a PS2 to work again after this happened, but you never know. I'd attempt to have a professional fix it before buying a new one if I were you."-- You seem to be having to same problem as the other guy. I have had a lot of experience with broken PS2s. Both of mine broke, my brother's broke, my friend's, and my sister's too, all of which had the same symptoms that you are describing. My brother's new one is our only one left; we keep it in a plastic case screwed to the entertainment center. In this experience, unfortunately, I still hold that this is a fatal occurance for the PS2. You may, find someone that can fix it, but don't get you hopes up.

Actually brother, I was googling this problem 15 minutes ago. I Did this and it worked 100% brand new. I Ran out of alcohol (if you have it use it) I took peroxide and a Q-tip and opened the ps2 up and cleaned the lens and i also checked the little rails the lens sides on and re-greased it.. I plugged it in and it works very nicely.. But just make sure that you are VERY CAREFUL that none of the alcohol goes down under the lens.. 1 drop of alcohol per end of the Q-tip will work just fine, Best of luck man.. worked for me. Enjoy.

k if what ever she didn't work u could try getting a cd laser cleaner. (mainly for music players) but its a little cd that has brushes and a little bottle of liquid that u put on the brushes. it spins around and gently wipes the laser clean... i recommend it. cos that's what i use. and it works every time
