Yeah, and the constitution is just a memo from the last generation.
-
I'm talking about the Bible and science right now, so why are you talking about the constitution? Why do Christians deter or steer away from the questions?
-
I would say it is just an interpretation of both science and their daily lifes and tried to explain the unexplainable. You see if men can write the constitution and write the declaration of human rights then why can't men write the Bible on their own? Clearly they were looking to create a constitution of their own. Thye have the court system, Gods court, jail, Hell, rewards, Heaven, the neighboor hood watch that makes sure you don't break the law and cops, angels, prisoners, demons, etc.

The Bible was never intended to be a book of science, nor does it claim to be. It's only purpose is to introduce man to God and show man the way to God.

Made you think? About what?

It's not outdated. It's not a fairy-tale. And it's not an "interpretation of science". The problems of human pride, conceit, selfishness, faithlessness, avarice, vanity, lust, cowardice, cruelty, indifference, covetousness, envy, wrath, and vindictiveness are just as much a problem for this generation as they were for Moses', Jeremiah's, and Christ's ... and every other generation since Cain's. The Bible isn't concerned with explaining or describing anything that falls within the ken of Physics, Astronomy, Chemistry, Biology, Botany, Geology, or anything of significant interest to Natural History, any more than it has anything to teach about Marketing, Cooking, or Photography. Even in the field of Government it has nothing to say beyond be just, be honest, and be faithful; and in Economics nothing beyond work hard, don't waste resources, have compassion on the needy, treat your workers fairly and respectfully, don't swindle or steal, and take time to smell the roses. The Bible is entirely about the problem of human sin, and the need and means of Grace, Redemption, Reconcilliation, and Restoration. FYI, "Science" is not a synonym for "Nature" or even "a scientific understanding of nature." There is no such thing as "Science" (other than as a name for an academic department in school) let alone "an interpretation of Science." There are only "sciences", and "a science" is just an area of knowledge: e.g., theology is a science, just as are economics, and library sciences. As for the pure sciences, each is "a study of a certain area of nature and its processes, which can be observed, measured, quantified, and described using mathematical models." What I presume you mean is a "pre-scientific explanation of nature."

The Bible isn't an interpretation of science at all. It's a mockery of scientific truth-seeking because it presumes to offer answers without experimentation or observation in areas where honest humans admit their own ignorance.
-
Outdated interpretation of science? Haha, It isn't even an interpretation of science at all. At its root, it is a book of literalist folklore; stories of everyday people, incorporated with anti-progressive politics. The interpretation of Science can only come after science has actually established a theory. Every religious interpretation of science is reactionary - Science discovers, something religion either denies or says "see, we predicted it" by a far-fetched rewording of their own prophecies.

The Bible is not meant to be worshipped. What is true and what isnt true isnt the focus of the Bible's purpose. The Bible is a handbook to get you onto the spiritual plane of our human existance. Science is beginning to understand that there is a spiritual side of living the human experience. maybe there is another name for that realm. this is my christian response.
