It's the non-gay equivalent of more derogatory terms than "gay". My gay friends refuse to use that word. They treat those that do use it as they would someone who uses the "n" word. It's not meant to be kind. I can't imagine one of them using that in reference to me. Our friendship would be over. Not so much because I can't stand a little contemptuous hatred thrown at me -- but I refuse to have it done so by someone I consider a friend.

Everything's about context. Just as some straight people can use the word "gay" perfectly innocuously and without any evil intent, so it goes for LGBT people and "breeder." There are those, however, who use such words to demean or defame others - in both groups.

gay people also breed. They just do it in the closet.

According to an online slang dictionary, the term "breeder" can refer to a person who has inbred qualities or someone who breeds with members of their own family. I'm not sure if it's some general term that's used. http://onlineslangdictionary.com/definition+of/breeder

Depends on the context in which it is used.
