Meditate. Sit in a comfortable position, close your eyes, focus on the sound of your own breath, and every time a thought comes into your head replace it with nothing. if you have a hard time thinking like that, then imagine a candle flame or a bright light, just something that is not distracting.

I don't even clean the windows in my house.

Refocus your thoughts on something else - it's like when you've been trying to remember something or write something down (as is my dilemma at the moment - writing the very last essay for my course, sigh, but less about me and back to you...). You try so hard that your brain starts to metaphorically short out and things stop making sense and you start losing your train of throught etc. So, take a deep breath, physically walk away from whatever it is that's bugging you or causing your mind to be 'clouded over' (hence the necessity for 'cleaning the mental windows). Go make a coffee / cup of tea etc and have time away from whatever it is that's driving you nuts. Frustration also causes the mind to trick itself and you end up feeling annoyed etc and overall, not think straight. Also, if it's a matter of wanting a new 'outlook' on things, try looking at them from another point of view - put yourself in the shoes of someone else (and no, I don't literally mean steal their shoes) - that can help get a new perspective on an old issue. As Abbguy so succinctly put it, meditation is another way to clear your thoughts. Either way, it's all about refocussing, re-directing your energy and in a way, rebooting your system. Just remember though, whilst some find these approaches refreshing, others can find that they don't help and work best when they remain in the 'zone' and try to battle through the 'fogginess' to clarity. Sorry for the metaphor overkill.

Zen meditation: 40 minutes a day, an hour on Sundays. Several times a year I participate in longer "sesshin" -- 2 to 5 days of intense practice. Basically, doing this: http://www.mro.org/zmm/teachings/meditation.php
