  • No. I think the description that Parker Brothers gives it is: "How it works has been a mystery for over 30 years!" http://www.hasbro.com/default.cfm?page=browse&product_id=9470
  • I really don't know what to think. I have tried many kinds many times and never had any luck with them. I won't say that just because i have not gotten one to work that they are crap. I will keep my mind open to the possibilities.
  • Yes. The effect is purely psychological, known as the idiomotor effect. I did an experiment in highschool to test this as well, so I'm not just making this up. On multiple occasions, I got a group of people together and had them use the Ouija board while I observed. They chatted with a "ghost" for a while and asked it personal questions which it answered. After that, I blindfolded everyone and had them repeat the process. They contacted a "ghost" but this time the planchette (pointer) didn't line up with any of the words correctly to spell out anything. I repeated this experiment 3 times to the same effect. It seems that people want something to answer so badly that they subconsciously answer for them. Addressing the reported instances of bad omens and such happening after use of a Ouija board (these stories were common from the 70s-90's) I interviewed four pastors (who were had warned of these omens before in sermons dealing with the Ouija craze) and I was able to get all four to admit that they had made up the stories.
