Absolutely. Not only does it enable you to speak with people in that other language, but learning other languages often helps you with English. For example: - I never knew I was using the subjunctive in English until I studied it in Spanish. - A lot of words in romance languages and English come from the same Latin roots. So studying another language can increase your English vocabulary. - Also, reading some works in the original language is much more compelling than many translations.

Sure it does! I can talk to my s/o in public and no one around knows what we are saying. I can cuss and swear and no one knows. It looks good on a resume and can open up other job opportunities. I can act like I don't speak english when I have to deal with idiots. I can travel and get around in another country on my own.

Yes, of course. I know English and Malay and I am now learning Mandarin Chinese. I love traveling and I am sure I will be more flexible when I learn more languages.
