Do you think that some people just downrate others so that thier answer will get closer to the top?I have noticed that sometimes it happens in a long stream.

Sometimes maybe but i do not see that it could really make a lot of difference in the long run. I just do not see many reasons to downrate anyone we all have different opinions and everyone is entitled to their own so I would not downrate on an opinion.. If ever I did downrate I would leave a comment to say why. That is what I find annoying about downrating you never know why.

Yes, actually I caught someone doing that just the other day. Needless to say he was dealt with appropriately and has not returned under that account. Anyone caught trolling is going to face the wrath of those with the rating power of the higher authority elite. We know what it is and what it looks like, and many of us are watchdogs, ready to ruin their credibility. It's only a matter of time before we find you.

I suppose that some might, tho it seem pretty childish and small to me. I have only downrated once, because the answer was so vulgar and totally unrelated to the question. I did not leave a comment because I felt that it was just what the person wanted...no one commented.

I haven't seen that. But I've personally received -5s on answers in my "expert" categories. I've already lost two "expert" categories because of that. Those answers were specifically and systematically targeted. It's actually funny. I feel sorry for that downrater. But at the same time, I'm honored (sorry ShoppingSheryl, I'm borrowing your words here). It only means I'm worth their "precious" time.

I've not noticed that happen. But, the trolls who usually hit me are the cowards who don't leave comments. I think they just hate and/or are jealous of those who have lots of friends and are higher levels. Neener, neener! I just made Maestro (and I'm sticking my tongue out at you...is that stooping down to a juvenile enough level for you?)

I get the low level -1 or -2 trolls who just DR my questions without having the guts to answer. It's a pitiful attempt to elict emotional responses from someone they don't (ususally) know.
