We're better at satisfying them. It takes a hell of a lot of effort to create a "need". Look at all the effort a marketing/advertising firm puts out to get you to buy something that is not one of the four NEEDS (water, food, fire, shelter). It takes thousands of man-hours and millions of dollars to convince you that your car, which is working perfectly fine thank you very much, is suddenly junk because it's 3 years old and doesn't have the new integral fur-lined cup holders. It takes a few hundred man-hours to earn the money needed to go out an buy the stupid thing.

Satisfying our own needs and helping to create them for others

Humans are good at creating needs but rarely,if ever, satify needs. The thrill is in the process of getting, and once gotten the interest is gone. Then one has to create again another need, and on and on.Thus is the wheel of desire.
