My greatest childhood hero has always and will always be my sister. She is the most amazing person I know. She is smart, a people person, and fun, gentle, honest, caring, generous, beautiful, and hardworking. Oh, and a hel’u’va lot of spunk!

When I was young we went to movies all the time. My mom was starstruck. I really loved June Allyson. She had it all, I thought. She was perky, bouncy, got to sing and dance and had an altogether bright and positive personality. Then there was my crush on Humphrey Bogart that began when I saw him in a movie when I was 3 years old. No one has replaced him in my eyes. :)

Superman! I worked out a lot but I'm still looking for a levitating towel to tie around my neck. Even though I can't fly yet, one advantage I have over him is that I'm invulnerable to Kryptonite! :D

Roy Rogers on tv. I had a group of imaginary friends. We used to go round up the bad guys. I learned of white hats and black hats .. and sticking up for those who were being bullied or taken advantage of by others. I learned not of legal things or contracts but of character and "the code" of a handshake and being as good as your word. Lots of westerns. Learned a lot of early values from them. Much later in life, when I learned the world was more complicated than I knew .. and more diversity existed than I knew .. those core values helped to make my way. What'a amazing in retrospect is that it didn't make me rigid or "black and white" as an adult. Instead, it taught me the value of looking for "character" in an individual .. no matter who they were, what their circustances were, where they came from or even how old they were. Pretty amazing, that. I also learned (from Roy Rogers and other westerns) that you couldn't always believe what people told you. I learned you had to ask questions and dig about for "the truth" of any situation. Interesting looking back what we picked up from those early heroes. Thanks for the question. :)
