Check the distributor cap/rotor, if you have one, or maybe it's a crankshaft/camshaft positon sensor. Could be that the distributor has jumped time as well, and needs to be properly reinstalled. Dosn't hurt to buy new spark plugs, and check proper gapping either....

I'm not familiar with your model. I had a similar problem with an older Mazda, it turned out to be a faulty ignition switch. Good luck.

ohm out your distributor and see if its good. this is very common for our cars. you could replace the entire egnition system and nothing will change. the pickups in your distributor are very sensitive and are probably toast.

But, have you changed the timing belt? How many miles on your vehicle?
