My mother always told me to wear clean underwear in case I would need to be hospitalized. Would hospital staff be concerned by the state of my underwear or even if I had any on at all?

Depends on how long you had been wearing them without changing them,could cause toxic fumes and lead to evacuation of the hospital:)

In the event that you were hospitalized from an emergency, your undewear would be removed (even cut away) anyway, so the point is moot. The only thing the staff would observe concerning your undies is whether they are freshly soiled, as this gives them clues as to your problem and overall condition when they do your assessment.

God forbid, but yeah, they'd probably cut them off of you. So, yeah, the hospital staff has much bigger things to concern themselves with!

Only if they were really gross. I mean they're either gonna ask you to take them off...or take them off you themselves if you are unconscious. I imagine they would only notice if they were badly soiled.

I think that was one of those Unwritten Laws Parents always came up with . It was more so if something did happen you wouldn't be embarassed or anything .
