Why are so many people bad a spelling and grammar usage? Is it inadequate education, laziness, just plain stupidity, or the "shortcut culture" prevalent nowadays (e.g. spelling easy as EZ)? If I'm not certain about something, I look it up first.

Why do you look down on people and criticize them with ridiculous degrading names. What makes you so perfect. Are you so perfect that you know everything. I don't think so. Some of us may not be as good in some things but better in others. You need to lighten up a little. Speaking of grammar, you might check the first line, obvious error and some other poor grammatical structures in your sentence which is very evident. If you can’t find it, you shouldn’t be chastising others for the same faults.

With Moms and Dads both working to sustain the needs of their households, many priorities have changed. "Nagging" to a child about this and that, such as in the case of spelling, grammar and many other things, as was once done, has just taken a back seat. The task has been essentially abdicated to those who are employed to do so...the teachers, many of whom, I've noted, are not all that good at doing so, themselves. My Mom, a stay-at-home homemaker, would have been SO on my case, if she heard me say something like "ain't" or "Me and my friend went to...", I was corrected and told never to say that again. Many moms aren't around to do that nagging any longer...and I've heard teachers, themselves, making those same mistakes.

Correct spelling and grammar are becoming a "lost art", as it were, yielding to what society deems more important matters. Good or bad? Who knows? I do know that those who do happen to follow the rules will likely fare far better, economically/financially, in the career world.

[A good question, nonetheless...even though you DID screw it up, particularly in light of its content! You should have checked it and re-checked it, knowin' you would get zapped for any error whatsoever! :-) I gave you my +5.]
