I've heard this discussed on talk radio today, and though I have not heard the quote, I agree with the idea that as a nation we do not discuss race, and I suspect that a good part of the reason why we do not is because we are uncomfortable.

The average american doesnt live where race is an issue. this average american would like to talk about the Latinos...is that a race. It seems to be a race to get across the border. Who is talking about that? Nothing is done for all the talk. It doesnt do any good. The Law says The Law is not important. what is that.

its true, he has a great point. there just hasn't been enough time and courage to confront race heard. its not a bad thing as thomas hobbes said, mean naturally seperate due to their differences

I talk with people about race all the time. I'm white, but I live in a mostly black neighborhood, so the discussion is usually about how f**ked-up white people are. Can't say I fully disagree.
