  • Sure 1-2 times I think.
  • It wasn't that they had guts. They were just plain dumb.
  • nope not yet...but theres still time huh
  • I usually leave a comment when I downrate something. It's usually because they post a simple yes/no type answer with no explaination to help others appreciate their point of view. Doesn't matter whether I agree with their answer or not.
  • I received several, back when comments were required on all negative ratings. I was usually irritated at first, but I always thought about what they'd written and generally agreed with anything rational. About half the commenters had valid reasons for disagreeing with my answer. On a few, I was just plain wrong, so I could hardly get mad about that. I used their comments to improve the answers, thanked them for their help, and we all lived happily ever after. The other half wrote reasons that made absolutely no sense. I used those comments to tease the commenter about his or her brainlessness. Probably didn't faze those people a bit, but I always felt somewhat vindicated. At least it kept me from downrating their answers out of spite.
  • I dont think I have ever received a comment after a downrating. I am always willing to receive constructive critisim (spelling?) though. As a matter of fact I welcome it.
  • People take negative ratings way too personal. To some people, a negative rating is declaring WAR! ( Iv seen it, " Who DARE down rate me - the all knowing, powerful hotdogman18?!?!?!?" Relax!) Once war is declared they retaliate with a harsh bombardment of negative ratings of their own! Some dude: "Whats your favorite color?" Me: "Blue." hotdogman18: WRONG!!!!! negative, clic!clic!clic! I WOULD leave my name and comment, if some people would accept that they don't know everything. In other words, Ahem* "Its nothing personal, your answer just sucked." hotdogman18 doesn't exist. If anyone has a similar name I apologies. Don't down rate me - OR ITS ON!
  • I've received a couple. I've handed out a significant number of down-ratings, about 98% of them with comments.
  • I had someone do it to me and then leave the pissy-est comment (scuse language)that really was just petty. They basically down-graded me because they thought I wasn't right and they were. That kind of thing is just unproductive and crappy plus it's really not in the spirit of the answerbag community.
  • I think only once have i received negative feedback with a reason why. The majority of times there is no comment.
  • I don't know if I have or not. If someone leaves a negative comment and you are also downrated, that isn't proof the two are connected. Isn't that just an assumption? Is there a way to know for sure who is downrating you?
  • Yes I did today and the person that downrated actually left a comment. It was much appreciated . They pointed out a mistake in my answer which made my reasoning unclear. The important thing was that they were honest enough to leave a comment and let me know WHY. The points were unimportant but the reason was very important and the honesty was much appreciated . I returned the comments and thanked them for the point. It makes a lot of difference when you know why a person finds your answers unclear.
  • Just once. But only after I questioned the reason for the downrating. We had a short exchange in the comment box and everything was fine. I'm far from perfect. I try not to dismiss anyone for downrating me, as long as there is a solid argument for it.
