Question

Help answer this question below.

I was issued a 1099 for under $10,000. I also have a W-2 from another job ($3000 income). I have calculated that I owe about $500 in, even after paying in extra on my W-2. I'm a full-time student, can I avoid paying in this $500?

I would question IF you were really an independent contractor to get the 1099..so many employers are trying to get around paying their share of taxes and workman's comp by issuing 1099s. But, YES, you have to pay what you have calculated (and I'm hoping you have the $10K subject to self employment taxes) and there is no getting around it. sorry!
