Does life seem less sacred to human beings these days compared to many years ago or not?

Yes, people seem not to care and are less godly than they use to be.

au contraire - I think life seems more sacred now than it did years ago. Infant mortality years ago was much higher than today, people died younger, there were not the same number of cures or medical interventions, millions died in wars - death was an accepted part of life. Today we find it much harder to deal with death or with illnesses because we seem to expect to be immortal. Do people take more risks with their lives these days? - True, we drive fast cars, and smoke etc, but I do not think that is because we do not respect the sanctity of life, but rather because we expect to live for ever.
