The age of your kitty is relevent here. Older obese cats don't always groom themselves as well as they used to. Brushing your kitty is MANDATORY at this stage. It will not alleviate all of the dandruff, but will bring more oils to the surface of her skin. Feeding your kitty a can of tuna in oil once a week may be beneficial too. This will enable the skin to secrete more oil. If you are using a cat food that is high in corn or corn meal as a filler-this may be part of the problem. Royal Canin makes a hair and skin formula for adult cats that works wonders for kitties. I’ve had great success treating some cats with a fatty acid supplement that is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. It may take four to six weeks to see any change, but usually after that the coat looks wonderful and there are minimal flakes. Hope this helps and good luck!
